Lots of you have probably seen square barcodes popping up more and more frequently in newspapers and magazines which look like the one above. Called QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) these codes are becoming increasingly used in offline media and can be a great benefit in advertising your holiday cottage.
The codes can be used by anyone with a smartphone to easily access a website without having to type in the web address manually.
Producing a QR code is also easy to do and what’s more: it’s completely free. As well as directing potential guests to your website, you can always make QR codes that link through to any webpage. You could produce a code that links through to your Facebook Fan page, or even a Youtube Video so people can take a tour of your cottage at the click of a button.
To generate the codes you can use a programme such as QR Stuff. All you do is add the link you want to turn into a code, and it does the rest for you.
Some top places a QR Code could be used to help promote your holiday cottage:
-Magazines and newspapers that you are advertising in.
-Business Cards.
-Posters/flyers you may have outside your cottage advertising it to passers by.
-Your Visitors book for people to leave online reviews.
If you’ve got any other ideas of where to use them add it onto the comments below!
