Recently we came across a post by a holiday cottage owner who had taken a booking from a French speaking family. To be as helpful as possible, the owner had translated everything into French to make it as easy as possible for them to get to find the holiday cottage…
Which got us thinking – Do you ever translate documents for a booking for non-english speaking guests? Or do you find that things get lost in translation? Equally have guests ever emailed you in a foreign language, leaving you confused as to what they’re asking?

Unless you are conversant in the language in question, I think it’s potentially dangerous to use a language other than your own. Google Translate, Babelfish and the like are great for getting an approximate meaning across, but when it comes to a booking, you don’t want to risk any important specifics being lost in translation because you’ve just used a tool to translate it for them.
